I really liked the spooky, gothic, fall vibes. Honestly the vibes and how they describe the little town were by far my favorite parts of the book. The magic was interesting, the characters were okay, and the writing felt a little awkward at times.
Vibes 4.5/5
Plot 2.5/5

This book is like Gilmore Girls if Gilmore Girls was about horny witches.

There was barely a plot. Just two main characters that are SO basic and predictable.
Him: I have dark hair and a dark side so you know I'm no good.
Her: I have white hair and no family so you know I'm pure and worthy.

And then it's just about how they want to bang.

I'm gonna be honest, I ate it up. My angsty teenage heart was singing. She was perfect and beautiful, he was tragic and brooding. There is almost no plot. Almost nothing gets resolved. But probably worth the read if you're horny, if you like Gilmore Girls, or if you're into witchy stuff.

Such a great physical read! 2 covens, masks, death, live and discovery! (P)

This is the most poorly written, boring book I've ever read. I tried to read it to fall asleep & got too annoyed mentally copyediting it to sleep. I genuinely got lost in run on sentences & confused by inconsistencies from page to page. And the ham-fisted Stephen King references!! I made it to the sentence "The girl who loved Tom Gordon" & gave up.

If you want to feel that The CW nostalgia but BETTER. I recommend. This book had me more than just kicking my feet and crying. Such a beautifully written story and THE PLOT ugh I could not put this book down. I’ll sing praises till my time comes.

I can’t say the book was great but I can’t say it was bad. Overall I enjoyed it, cried at sad parts but overall it was so melodramatic. It was good enough I finished it though so I guess that’s something.

The book cover drew me in; the possibility kept me turning the pages.

The idea of there being a secret town that only 'the chosen' can visit, drenched in magic, and a group of bad boys and an innocent girl.... how can it not win.

First- I am thrilled that the MC, Fallon, was not an 18-year-old girl still in high school.

Second- I am thrilled that the main characters don't save the world in three months. This time, they are just saving their small hidden town. Much more believable.

Third- while there were parts of the book that I had to reread to understand where the author was going, it was generally a pleasant read. I was rooting for Julian and his band of misfits, fingers crossed that the curse besotted on them could be lifted. Fallon seemed more challenging for me to buy into, not because of anything the author wrote regarding personality- but because I couldn't imagine what she looked like.

Did she look like a ghost? Did she not? I am not sure.

Finally, the book left off on a cliff hanger, which I was pleasantly happy about. I wasn't ready to put the characters back on the book shelf.

I enjoyed the vibes in this story but I also found this very frustrating. I feel it could have been 100 pages shorter. It seemed like it took a really long time for anything to really happen. I was so incredibly annoyed by both main characters and their passive defeatist attitudes. Did like it overall and will try the second one.
