I want to start of with that I saw the live action film first, Edge of tomorrow. I fell in love with the movie and wanted to check out the rest of the original adaptions, which are a novel and 2 manga that the film is based on. I really like this manga. Like the changes and the different characters. One gripe I do have is the female roles, a lot of the girls are drawn provocatively and are related to the main characters as love interests. Rita is more fleshed out but still has a bit of what is called fan service. It's not horrible but just wish the trope would not be present. Let's see if by vol. 2, Rita gets fleshed out.

This reminds me of that Tom Cruise movie Edge of Tomorrow. It's pretty good.

All You Need is Kill is a manga adaptation of the science fiction light novel of the same name. It tells the story of Keiji Kiriya, a new recruit in the United Defense Force. Despite soldiers being fitted with state-of-the-art Exoskeletons, they are still losing the fight against mysterious alien creatures called the Mimics. But all of that is about to change when Keiji Kiriya died in his first battle, only to be reborn on the morning before his death to fight & die again and again. After 158 deaths & revival, he finally noticed something very strange that may change the course of this alien war.
This was something really really intriguing. When I first pick it up I didn't realize that this was the source material for a blockbuster science fiction film, The Edge of Tomorrow starred Tom Cruise & Emily Blunt. I've seen that movie and remembered being so captivated by how wonderful time paradoxes could be. Especially when used in war and trying to predict or change the future. I'm such a sucker for "paradoxes" creative storytelling.
Vol. 1 definitely started with a bang and a mystery for the reader to be enticed with. The art was so good. It looked clean, rugged & sometimes gory. The art style suited this warfare time-loop dystopian manga like it was created specifically for this. You could feel the energy that the art was trying to convey. It was surprising because I've never felt anything like that before. It was thrilling, mysterious, & it constantly pulls the reader in. You won't be able to put this manga down.
It was a great reading experience & I cannot wait to see how this would wrap up.
