The Mercyverse is one of the best urban fantasy settings I've ever read. From worldbuilding to character development, everything blends together nicely and always leaves me wanting more.
In Soul Taken, Mercy must solve a mystery involving missing persons, when suddenly murders relating to an urban legend begin to appear. With bad publicity aimed at the Pack, it is even more important to get things resolved quickly. Mercy has to dig deep inside herself and learn quickly on her feet before things get really nasty.
Cons: It feels like there's no time for Mercy (or the reader) to breathe. With plot points piling onto the character's shoulders, the tension in my own got worse. (In hindsight, this was probably done intentionally, but still.)

The latest installment of the Mercedes Thompson series is another excellent story. Wulfe has disappeared and Mercy needs to find him, a task rather complicated by an ancient fae artifact and a string of serial murders.
I thought this was a delightfully convoluted murder-mysyery-esque plot line. We get a lot of vampire backstory and a little of Mercy learning more about herself. I also appreciate that Patricia Briggs lets her characters grow and doesn't rehash the same relationship problems over and over.

This book felt like when you orgasm … and you still came but it’s not the best you’ve had. It felt like a filler book and I want more so bad I itch. Of course authors aren’t work horses but I want the next one so bad!!! Oh and it also surprised me at the lack of sex scenes. I mean you knew it happened several times but your didn’t get ANY of it.
