Reread: whew I had forgot so much but was worried I’d get bored since I remembered the general plot, but NOPE! I love the world and magic system, as well as the banter between the two MCs

3⭐️- I think this is a good start to the series which I am going to continue reading. I liked the plot twist at the end even though I was able to predict it early on. I am excited to see where they go from here. That being said, there were moments that I felt bored and wished there was a deeper exploration of characters and relationships between them.

funny that the last 1% was the only interesting part after suffering at 60% for almost 3 months

It felt like a knock off of TOG - the FMCs main characteristics and back story seemed like a direct rip from TOG. Even the direction the story took (she works for a shady figure and then he betrays her and she starts working for the king? It’s a little too on the nose)

3.5 stars. Not a bad book, good plot and characters.

Hoopla audio. Slow and meandering - will not be continuing the series. Vet mom recommendation.

Way too predictable and trope driven and the writing felt like a 15 year olds first draft
