Duck and Penguin Are Not Friends is a cute picture book about the stuffed animals of two best friends named Maud and Betty. Despite Maude and Betty being friends, as the title suggests, Duck and Penguin are *not* friends. They do not like playing in the sand together, or baking together or painting together or doing anything together. The one thing that they can agree on is that they hate playing itty-bitty babies the most. Is that enough to bring them together? This is an interesting concept that I haven't seen before and the illustrations are cute.

Duck and Penguin Are Not Friends is a book about a stuffed duck and a stuffed penguin. Duck and Penguin's owners are best friends, but Duck and Penguin are NOT friends at all. While the children play together, Duck and Penguin make a mess while battling against each other. Eventually they have to get cleaned up, but their rivalry continues through it all...until their owners want to play itty-bitty babies. Duck and Penguin would rather do ANYTHING than play itty-bitty babies, even if it means playing with each other. In the end, Duck and Penguin realize that they might be friends after all.

The simple, yet adorable illustrations effectively demonstrate the relationship between Duck and Penguin. The text is simple enough for a young child to understand and includes humorous elements that parents and teachers will appreciate. This book is one that young children will be able to relate to, especially as they begin daycare or preschool. I appreciate the honesty about how Duck and Penguin do not get along at first. This is a situation that comes up for many children, but I also like the way Duck and Penguin find common ground by the end of the story.

This book would be a great addition to classroom or home libraries!

This book is so cute and funny. I think I liked it even more because my childhood toy was a duck and my best friends was a penguin. The pictures were super cute, the story funny and I think kids would get a good giggle out of it.

Thank you to NetGalley and Peachtree Publishing Company for providing me with an ARC.
