This is such a perfect ya summer romance read! The vibes were immaculate with the small town setting and the beach and lake trips, it was just giving all the summer feels. I love bucket list type stories because it allows for so much character growth with them being pushed out of their comfort zone. Plus, it usually allows for some fun antics. This book definitely fulfilled what I wanted from that storyline. The romance was perfect and felt so natural. I absolutely loved Emily and Blake and how open they were with each other. Blake is also just so likable as a character, I mean how could you not love her? I also thought the book did a great job handling grief. It even caused me to get a little teary eyed at the end, which I was not expecting. Totally would recommend reading this one!

The characters could've been more fleshed out but it was cute nonetheless. At times, it felt like the author was trying a bit too much to sound profound, but all in all, it was a quick, easy, enjoyable read!

This had some cute moments but it took way too long for anything to happen and then it was just rushed.

This was a sweet and cute YA contemporary and I really appreciated the story of a girl struggling to come out of the closet in a small, country town (that’s my life!) but I also feel this book exemplified everything about why I feel I’ve been growing out of YA contemporary. All of the themes and emotional depth felt very surface level, nothing was explored in any real depth. And there were moments I felt like a real psychopath for not feeling distraught over the mother plot - not sure if this is the book’s fault or mine! I wanted deeper emotion from this, everything felt very surface level and lacked depth to me - I’ve spent the day trying to work out if it’s a problem of the book itself (and it genuinely is just lacking depth a bit?) or if it’s related to my feelings of growing out of YA contemporary. I still do not have an answer because I’m still not ready for this genre to me over so I’m still don’t want to say it’s the latter.

this book was really hopeful and entertaining and by the end of it I was on the verge of tears. it took a little while for me to get into it at first as it started quite boring and the main character didn't seem very likeable, however by the middle of the book I was on the edge of my seat and couldn't put it down. although the plot may have a been a little predictable, it was the perfect escapist summer novel - I adored the romance and got lost in the hopes and struggles of the protagonist, Emily. I read this book nonstop in 2 days: definitely recommend.
