I really enjoyed this book!! It was very sweet and sentimental, and I think it handled the heavier topics really well. Reading this felt like biking in a small, new england countryside town's roads in front of sunflower fields during the summer, and staring at komorebi while hiking near a lake.
I always enjoy coming-of-age stories of self-discovery like this.
Also, I feel like the main character deals with some worries and expectations I've felt before, and I really felt seen ー her struggles with fears of catastrophe really mirrorred my own, which are connected to my OCD. It really felt like she struggled with OCD triggered by her mom's death, and that completing the list during the summer helped her ease her suffering a little. I could really relate to her as I used to be a carefree child, too, and started to feel more and more scared of living my own life as I grew older and my OCD worsened. It's nice to see an inspiring story like this, where she found strength in her friends, family and in newfound relationships. Makes me think that maybe I can find some strength, too.
Overall, a really lovely, sweet, inspiring book. A perfect summer read!!!
