Great story! I appreciated the look at the Soviet view of WWII. The descriptions of the cost to them was very well integrated into a riveting story. The narration in the audio version was superb. There are author's notes at the end to let us know the facts in the story and it is very much based on the true story.

Another incredibly well-researched and beautifully written historical fiction by Kate Quinn. I enjoyed The Rose Code a bit more just by personal preference, but this was an amazing story of a female Russian sniper during WWII. I love that Quinn stays as close as possible to the historical record while still weaving things together in a compelling and readable way.

I really wanted to like this book but just didn’t find myself wanting to read it. It gave too many details/explanation and there’s nothing that really grabbed me. I found it kind of boring, to be honest.
