Decent writing
but just reviving the villain from book 1 is boring
would have like to see How Sam adjusted to his new role/Reality.

Another amusing tale of Samhain the necromancer & friends! I love this series. It's so lighthearted, despite the grimness of necromancy as subject.

I do enjoy Sam's first person pov but it gets somewhat distracting when it suddenly switched to Douglas's and then Brid's third person narrative. On the other hand, I appreciate getting their viewpoints too, so there's no other way to do it... (I think another first person pov would get way too confusing!)

I liked getting Douglas's pov in particular, because I love a good villain who can be so morally gray but weirdly sympathetic at once.

I'm sorry the next book in the series won't be about Sam. From the author's blog, it sounds like she'll be giving us a new cast of characters from the same universe. Nevertheless, I'll be looking forward to it eagerly!

Wow, was it just me or did James just kinda come out of nowhere? I mean, he was alright in the first book but in this one he really blew me away. James was my favorite part of this book.

BUT, other than James, everything was exactly as it should be. Lots of humor, great characters and character interaction. Clever story, with an unexpected focus.

Yep, still lovin this series! More, more, more!

I almost never think sequels are better, but this one was an exception. Amazing book. Loved the Gnomes, Frank, and James. Sam has clearly grown into himself a little since the first book, so it wasn't hard for me to see him in a leadership role. And I can't even begin to say that the final big scene near the end tore my heart a little. I absolutely loved James, loved his tortured existence, and I loved Sam for sympathizing with him. Brilliantly conceived book and amazingly written. I love this series.

I like this book because a majority of the characters have fascinating and unique personas. The villain, despite all he did, was human in his own way, a person who had good potential but not the right environment to bring out that potential. Apparently, the central character is James and I like him. Will look forward to book 3 and hope there will be more Douglas!

3.5 stars this book was good but not as great as the first one. This was fell a little too flat for me in the action parts, I wish it had more interactions with a certain character that popped up and I wish that scene when he came in more heartfelt. However I did love the creativeness of the story, there was Bigfoot in this one. How cool is that. I loved Sams creepy house and all the creatures that lived in the house were the funniest thing to read about. The gnomes were by far my favourite. "What's you name?"..."Twinkle....The Destroyer" ahahaah that was awesome. Lisa I hope this is not the end? I need more sam and nick!!! I really want to see that play out more. However there novellas that I may need to read in order to understand nick better im guessing? So I shall read those this month too. Overall give this series a read it's so much fun.

The sole reason I'm rating this book 3 is because I didn't get to see Sam and Brid get a happy ending. *sobs*

The story was great, and the characters developed really properly. Last book, I wrote in my review, how the antagonist could have had more screen (text?) time and could have been used better. The author did a great job at that in this book.
