If Indiana Jones was a romcom, this would be it and I am here for it!

Talk about a book living up to its nameā€¦ THIS WAS INDEED ā€œSOMETHING WILDERā€!!! In every definition. Something wild as in reminiscent and inspired by the old western times of Butch Cassidy. Something wild as in holy plot twists! Something wild as in something completely different and thrilling from my fave writer duo CLo!

Donā€™t get me wrongā€”this is miles from CLoā€™s usual romcom. This is like Indiana Jones meets The Goonies, interlaced with their signature flirty banter and heartwarming compassion. It is definitely not your typical romcom. But personally, I loved the genres blurring together.

As a SUPER FAN of Indiana Jones, I ate the adventure of this story entirely up. The Utah terrain setting (um hello The Last Crusade), the promise of long lost treasure, the dangers of the journey. A trip gone terriblyā€¦ wild. God, this novel was SO much fun to read!! I loved the characters and the ins and outs of their relationships with each other, and I didnā€™t even mind how convenient Lily and Leoā€™s love story pieced together. I always melt for a second-chance romance, forced proximity, one bed, a decade of longing, the whole shebang. Throw in some crazy high stakes and Iā€™m beyond sold.

I wish a few of the characters had been there for more than just very specific plot points, but otherwise? LOVED. THIS. BOOK.

This is 1 part funny, 1 part romance, and 1 part mystery/thriller/adventure, which was a weird mix. It was still mostly enjoyable, but just when you were in a comfortable rom-com part bam you got a mystery/thriller/adventure element, which I didn't care for. I also would have liked more spice in the current times, not just the flashbacks. But the MCs were good people and I loved the ending and her father's redemption.Ā

This was a lot of fun but I wasn't really sold on the romance.Ā  But I think I'm okay with that.Ā  Second chance romances just aren't my favorite and that's exactly what Lily and Leo were - a second chance.Ā  I really loved the adventure aspect of this story though but I almost feel like it went too fast?Ā  Overall, I had a lot of fun with it.

I was warned that this wouldnā€™t be what I expected, and they were right, itā€™s notā€¦ Itā€™s better!

While the twists are so unbelievable, and the decisions the characters make are questionable and concerning, the adventure side was so engaging I couldnā€™t put it down!Ā

Trust the reviews when they say this is more of an adventure story than a romance one, and be prepared to suspend your disbelief at pretty much every turn while reading this, but overall the love and care Christina Lauren put into describing the red rock canyons of Utah and setting up such a fun treasure hunt for the readers to experience will win you over.

This is the fourth book Iā€™ve read by these two authors and Iā€™ll definitely continue reading more.Ā

Pick this book up if:
- Youā€™re looking to escape reality & travel through stories
- Youā€™re an outdoorsy person
- You enjoy jaw-stopping, thrilling moments in your romancesĀ
