I've said it for the previous ones I read but this time I mean it lol I will not continue this series. I have questions about the planet and alien history but for those questions I'll just have to look them up. I don't like pregnancy tropes and this one capped my tolerance for it.

I really liked Kira and felt her story was realistic and compelling. I appreciated how she cared so much for the other girls, did her best to assimilate to life on a new planet, and learned to take chances despite her fears. She always acted selflessly, even if it meant putting herself in mortal danger. This applies to her encounter with the Little Green Men and her hesitance to be with Aehako, which I believe was highly valid because she wanted to protect herself from a broken heart and him from
not being able to have kids
like how he hoped. I was pleased throughout the story as she gained confidence in herself and made decisions that served her desires, and I was glad that she was happier and felt a sense of belonging by the end of the novel. Aehako was also great. Even though he desperately wanted to be with Kira, he respected her need for space and adherence to human traditions, letting her initiate any romantic interactions they shared. Kira needed someone who understood why she is the way she is and how to bring her out of her shelf, and Aehako took those duties on with pride and enthusiasm. I loved this pairing and thoroughly enjoy this world Ruby Dixon has built!

i told myself i wouldn’t continue the series, but here i am. this one was fine, but i found Kira had the least personality compared to the other girls. her story of experiencing infertility was interesting though.

Barbarian Lover is another fun, quick read, with plenty of spice and a great pairing. Some of the challenging narrative aspects—especially action—are rushed and awkward, which did diminish the overall quality of the writing and story. However, the romance in this one is especially sweet: it was less fated mates and more friends to lovers, which I absolutely vibe with. I enjoyed seeing Kira and Aehako’s relationship blossom, with them choosing each other first. I admit I hoped that the ending would go in a different direction, but the series is what it is, and I don't fault the books for that. Even if some of the content ultimately doesn’t line up with my preferences or values, I can still appreciate them for what they are—lightheaded, steamy romps.
