5 The Gift Stars

Oh My God… I forgot how much I missed these characters, I kept saying out loud. Oh Logan, Oh Adam, Oh Rose.. lol and so on.

I think what I love best about this book and really any others by Dannika is that it’s like opening a book to your family. You always feel welcome and that you never want to leave. It is like coming home.

This book is the perfect novella not only for the time being as its right around Christmas but because we got to see some of our favorites and what they are doing. It is kind of perfect. I am all kinds of swoony over here.

Silver and Logan will always have that special place in my heart and this book made it sing. <3

Fin… Ok now I really want a Fin book, who is with me. I mean yeah Adam’s book would be fun too but I am all about Fin right now... Pretty Please!!

Let’s talk about the narration for a second, Nicole Poole just does it for me, I swear she can do multiple females well, kids voice and male voices. I loved it as I have loved all her other work.

Well worth the credit this book is a Gem and everyone needs to read it.

*You don't have to like my review but its 100% my opinion, and I am allowed to have it.*

Amazing Gift!!! It was good to have some additional insight into Lakota's back story. This is a wonderful quick read for the holiday. Logan and Silver have so much love to give, but they can never have a child of their own because of their different race. They have been turned down for adoption for that same reason. So they are trying to buy a child on the black market. Their Christmas celebration comes together nicely and they get a call that changed their lives forever, as well as Finn's. Another awesome read!!!

My review and an extended sample of the audiobook are posted at Hotlistens.com.

I’m not a huge Christmas reader. I’m not a person that goes out looking for Christmas related stories. I do enjoy a good Christmas story when it’s about a series and characters that I already love. I love novellas because we usually get to see a different side to the characters than in full length novels. Novellas tend to not have the big mystery plot (or at least not as large of one) and focuses more on the everyday of the characters which is a fun difference.

In this story, we get to see all the favorite characters from the Mageri series come together for Christmas. Like with a real family, some have more love for the season than others. And since this is the first time they are having Christmas together as a group, there is an interesting shopping trip as Justus and Simon go to purchase a tree and decorations. I love the thought process as Justice finds an ornament for each person.

The “gift” that is received it a pretty amazing one that comes at the perfect time. It is a gift that will be loved by all the characters, but a few in particular. I thought about going into this aspect of the plot line a little bit more, but I really loved the aspects of it. But, I decided that it was too much of a spoiler. If you’re a fan of the Mageri series, this is a must have addition. I’m really hoping that we will get another story in this series. Maybe Finn or Adam???

Narration
Once again, I really enjoyed Nicole Poole’s narration of this book and the entire series. I really love her voice of Simon. I wasn’t a huge of her voice of the Rose, Justus’s daughter. She does sound younger than the rest of the group, but something about it just didn’t sound right. Rose is a very intelligent child and maybe Poole was working to make her sound it and it didn’t sit right with me. It is a small thing. If you haven’t tried Poole, I really enjoy her narrations.

It was so nice to be back in Dannika Dark's Mageri world. I was a bit late for Christmas with this one but that was ok. It was still close enough I think!

I had an idea of what was meant when naming this book "The Gift". At least it was something I was hoping for. But, as I've found with this series, anything can happen! You are left on the edge of your seat right to the end. Reading it though, I kept telling myself, "this is a Christmas book, she's not going to do something terrible".

The Gift actually takes place a few years later than Shine, and we are treated to a Christmas with the kids. It's a great time with Justus and Simon in charge of the tree and shopping for all the ornaments. Everyone is together at the building the Cross brothers found. So they all live in the same building, just different floors. Well, except for Sunny, Novus, Adam & Simon. They are all staying over for the holiday though so everyone is together.

I totally enjoyed sharing the holiday with these favorite characters of mine. It didn't get tense until that phone call Logan gets. Then the worry started.

In my excitement for this novella, I listened to it before Closer and Risk. These two books are set in the Mageri World with some of our favorite characters. I think I would have had a grasp on a couple of relationships and characters if I had of listened to them first. You don't have to, I'm just a bit crazy about reading books in order. So, even though on Goodreads it lists those books AFTER The Gift. I would read Closer and Risk first.

The story stole my heart and was a great conclusion to something that could have easily been left undone. I'm really hoping for another book to come that will feature Adam and Sadie, but I guess we'll see if that happens.

If you're reading this series, make sure not to leave out this novella! This review was originally posted on Rantings of a Reading Addict

Please note; my star rating on any book is completely subjective and limited to the label for each star.

1 Star I didn’t like it
2 Stars It was okay
3 Stars I liked it
4 Stars I really liked it
5 Stars It was amazing!

If I do actually have something to say about a book other than what my enjoyment factor was, I will write a review and share my thoughts. If I say I didn’t like a book but there wasn’t anything about it that I thought needed to be shared, then that’s it, I just didn’t like it.

If you’d like to start a discussion about a book or you’d like an actual review, ask any question you like and I’ll be happy to try and comply/respond.

Additional note; I do not feed the trolls. If you don’t have something constructive to say, or if you can’t say it in a respectful way, you won’t get a response from me. Ever.

I am so glad to read about the child that they got. I'm glad that I have read all of this series. It is one of my favorites to read again and again.
