As someone who doesn't like to read contemporary books that often, I was sucked in reading about Jackson's life and everything he is going through.

The book follows a young indigenous boy, Jackson, over the summer holidays. His aunt and cousins come over the holidays
and coming along with them is Thomas, another young indigenous boy who has just come out of juvie and is staying with Jackson's Aunt Pam.
The book mainly covers the topics of racism and discovering ones sexuality and what that means for them. I enjoyed seeing the world through a different set of eyes and their experiences.

I look forward to seeing more works by Gary Lonesborough.
