Fun story, but it's the illustrations that really make it, stylishly rendered and chockful of detail.

(Note: 5 stars = amazing, wonderful, 4 = very good book, 3 = decent read, 2 = disappointing, 1 = awful, just awful. I'm fairly good at picking for myself so end up with a lot of 4s). I feel a lot of readers automatically render any book they enjoy 5, but I grade on a curve!

Cute book about a witch who lives in an all black home and has a black cat who she sometimes has a hard time seeing (since everything is black). A short journey as she works to fix the problem. Most cute and amusing!
The art is playful and actually has a surprising amount of detail to it. You can tell a good deal of time was put into the pictures which is something I always appreciate in a good children's book.
This is the first book about Winnie. We will continue looking to add the others to our family's book collection.

A cute story of a witch who lives in a black house with a black cat and all the problems this causes. Loved the children's art on the endpapers in the 25th anniversary edition; a colourful touch!

Wilbur is a black cat that lives with Winnie the witch in a black house. But Wilbur is hard to see. He gets sat on and tripped over. Winnie uses her powers to change Wilbur’s colors. But will it work? To find out read the book. It was a fun read, and while it’s hard to articulate why, I think most readers will understand why this book isn’t super popular. It’s missing something…..
