Inconsistent powers and not enough character development

There was just way too much going on in this book. Almost every other chapter there was something going wrong that Brielle had to fix or conquer. It was exhausting to read. Also although the surety of Lincoln and Brie in their love for each other was new to me in a YA I can't say that I actually enjoyed it. She just turned 20 and they're talking about having each others babies... just no. My other gripe with the book/series is the inconsistency in the powers in the celestial and archangels. In one instance, Raphael is trying to hold down a shifter but is struggling but his is an ARCHANGEL so his powers and strength should greatly outweigh that of a freaking wolfshifter. Then why is Lucifer so much stronger than all four of the archangels. WHY when Lincoln is about to battle some demons and Bri states that he is going to need her help does he agree to it even though he is the greatest celestial known to man. If everyone got a little power from who they were around when the angels came down does that mean that the all the people gifted with the same thing were in the same place? how has this affected the whole of the united states but the only headquarters is LA. If the war-zone is overrun by demons and controlled by them why doesn't the celestial talk about their powers being drained out their as well as at the tainted academy. WHY ARE THE ARCHANGELS such wimps when it comes to what they are able to do???

Enjoyable

An enjoyable read. I like the characters and world Leia has built. It's not easy to write a book about angels and demons without coming off as sacrilegious, and I feel like the author has done that. I appreciate that while the book has religious roots, it's not really a religious book- it's more about good, evil, and love.

So many things to unpack in this novel! I loved the direction the story is going in. I did see the ending coming but not quite to the extent that happened.
