Wow! What a fantastic book! I have to find the author just to tell her she really outdid herself with this book. I cannot find one flaw. The story flowed effortlessly even though it alternates between the present and the past.

Of the three main characters,The Adejide women, Kambirinachi’s story will probably remain etched in my mind for a long time.

How she talks about food and the cities in this book was just amazing.

With heavy themes like abuse, loss, depression, family, sexuality, love, and relationships, Francesca was able to tell such a moving story. The way it ended had my heart racing and full at the same time.

I honestly stan!

It took a few chapters for this one to grab a hold of me; then, once I was invested, I wanted to both read it very slowly and all at once. It's a glorious read--painful at times, yes, but not in a way that eclipses the moments of joy. The fumbling for connection, the cycles of love and loss, the moments of recognition and of recognition withheld, are all so real. And seriously, why do all of the Nigerian novels that I read make me hungry?

It's early in the year but I already know that this is going to be one of my favorite reads of 2024.

This book is so alive, it hums. Taiye, Kehinde and Kambirinachi are so clearly developed, physically, emotionally, that you feel their experiences in your bones. Rich, sumptuous, like Taiye’s cooking you want to gorge yourself and left grateful to be fully satiated.

This is the best book I’ve read in a long time. The prose is phenomenal and the interweaving storylines are masterful. Genuinely an incredible piece of literature.
