Title and cover a little misleading in a way, I was expecting more of a thriller then we actually got. The twist though I didn't see coming though thinking back it seems so obvious now.

I started this book on the way to my holiday to Korea for two weeks and I ended up finishing it 6 days after I landed back home. As a result, this book has a special place in my heart and for that alone I want to keep the book because of the sentimental value. But having read the story, I know that it is not anything special, so I should unhaul it, especially seeing as I have just hauled over 100 books from YALC.

With that being said, this is my favourite Sue Wallman book that I have read so far. I do have one unread Sue Wallman book, so perhaps that one will be better then this one, but as of me reviewing this book, this is the best one I have read and I have read all of her books up to the publication of this one. It was the set up of the mystery and the mysterious events that worked really well. The execution was done well. However, what I thought to be lacking was the lack of development. I felt like we didn't really get to know the characters beyond surface level, and I felt like the ending was rushed and anti-climatic. I don't like it when books that have hundreds of pages can be concluded in a chapter of less than 5 pages.

Overall, I would mark this book closer to a 4/5 stars than 3/5 stars but I can't give a .5 of a rating. It was the most enjoyable book that I have read from her, and I am interested in seeing how her writing will develop.

The atmosphere of this book was awesome. It was the perfect blend of horror, thrill and teenage drama. The ending was super unexpected but also not random. The plot had a nice closure and the book itself was definitely a page-turner. I was fascinated with all the characters. The friendship of the Amigos was so nice to read about. Jakob was funny, and Ivy and Leah were funny together as well. I was also low-key jealous of how cool Tatum was depicted. The romance with Evan was also a nice touch. I really liked how the 'ghostly' activities had a basis in reality and not paranormal activity. Also, the fact that Roses' and Alice's story had happened decades before added a nice touch.
All in all, a nice read
Also, great cover! So dynamic and just beautiful! The title is also so ominous. Love it!

3.7 stars -Thriller
Really liked it, have read better - honestly liked that it was still pretty chill at parts. Although, for a small YA book it was pretty damn good. Lots of twists and turns, most of them I kinda saw coming - BUT THE ENDING WAS TOTALLY UNEXPECTED! Really great plot twist tbh.
Would totally recommend though.

Well, this book was not as interesting as the back of the cover made it seem like. I do not understand what other people liked about this book. To me, the reader just follows the story of a whiny 15 year old girl who hates anyone new coming into her life, while spending New Years at an old house where a teenage girl`s body was discovered.
