A pretty devastating book that does a great job of exploring the different paths life can take based on choices we make. Not sure I could handle reading it again but it was very thought provoking.

I was waiting for a great ending but this one fell short for me. First half was great

Wanted to give a higher rating but the changing of story lines got confusing and the end had me questioning everything!

Wow! So many emotions! Very hard to read the journey of Max and Pip, especially when faced with a decision so hard that no parent should ever have to make. Very well written!

I struggle on what to rate this book. Part of me wants to rate it low for how it's left me feeling. But maybe that's only because my own life is on a journey I never expected and not the one I wanted. But the book itself was beautifully written, the characters became real and their feelings alive in my heart.

I never would have bought this book if I really knew what it was all about. I've read her previous ones and picked this one up as I thought it would be the same sort of thing. It started off okay but soon picked up when the story split into two different alternatives. I would have given this book a four star rating but I only gave it a three because of the ending, I wasn't satisfied with it.

“This is a story not about loss, but about hope. We cannot predict the future when we make difficult choices in life, but we can shape the years that follow. We can choose to live again.”

If you wanna feel moved by a story, this is it. Read it, love it, relate to it or not. It’s a book that is here to stay as soon as you start reading it.

This is quite an emotional story. Two parents facing the near certainty of losing their child, each on one side of what should be done for him.
Midway through the book, we are taken into two different stories. One from Pip's perspective of how she wanted to proceed for their son, the other from Max's perspective of how he wanted to proceed.
I have to admit a bias for Pip's story. Maybe because I'm also a mother. But, I felt like the way her story moved forward was more true to how the situation would have played out.
