Basically this book sets forth in great detail all the way men hosed women since the beginning of time and how male doctors actively made up crap to explain away legitimate illnesses to perpetuate sexist beliefs and goal and repeatedly and continually tried to keep women out of the medical field. A fascinating and needed book. If you liked Invisible Women, this one is for you.
It goes through hysteria, witch trials, lobotomies, endometriosis, wandering womb, idea that reading women could cause hysteria.
Basically, this book is a very thorough look at how men have overlooked women’s real medical needs as women’s wrongdoing or overexertion.
We need more books like this.
Warnings: I can’t remember language or any other content warning other than sexual assault and abuse of women.
I’m sure some would maybe find it a tinge dry, but I didn’t. I enjoyed it immensely and am looking forward to her next book.

Such a fascinating look at the history of medical care for women, mostly from a European and white American perspective.

Ok, the low rating is base on my enjoyment and not on the quality of the research or text. I'm looking to get into non-fiction and this wasn't right for me.

Great idea but not as well written as I would have liked.
