The themes would've worked much better if they didnt make the main character a pedophile attracted to a 16 year old. Hard to root for. An easy fix to make Becky his age, which is what the movie did and it's much better for it. Author also struggles to write women and tend to over sexualize minors which I didnt enjoy.
