Yess they finally realized! i'm so happy for the main couple and the princes and medic. and the father son bond... i could just cry! i actually did at one point when the things went down with the servant but i was glad when everything ended happily.

This book had me on the edge of my seat most of the time. There were so many close calls for Jaron and his kingdom. I even got where I started to cry over certain events. This book was so good. I at first thought this was the last book as that is what the audio first said, but after looking, there are another two more books, and I can not wait to listen to them.

NO SHE DIDNT ACTUALLY DIE DAMMIT YOU SUCK IMOGEN.

takes deep calming breaths

I asked for one thing. One teensy weensy thing. I was over the moon when Imogen my mortal enemy got slain and was prepared to gather around a campfire and begin dancing.

BUT NO.

She just had to be resurrected from the dead and now she gets to be the centrepiece because Araminda doesn’t like Jaron romantically even though I’ve been shipping them from day one.

YOU KNOW YOU CAN SCORE BETTER SAGE

My bloods boiling but at least Sage cures everything because he’s sassy and has like back-up plan A to Z for the 1928448 times he’s been captured by the enemies (if they even learnt their lesson they should’ve killed him on sight).

There was a lot of fillers because he doesn’t help that Sage has like 10 Achilles Heel and none of his friends can actually hold their ground besides Roden and Mott (it sucks really) so like a concerned mother duck he has to trespass into enemy camp to get them out of a pickle whenever they make horrible life choices.

The ending didn’t exactly live up to my expectations because I was expecting more people to die (aka IMOGEN the self-righteous brat who doesn’t deserve to be Queen because she’s the servant of sludge).

With all the finality I can muster: I HATE YOU IMOGEN. I hope that you die during childbirth (pretty please could you just begone) so that Sage can end up with Roden and they can adopt two dogs and one child and be the perfect ship ever.

3 stars

Tl;dr
you’d better watch your back while you sleep because I’m coming for you I.M.O.G.E.N.

Nothing technically wrong with this book; it just really wasn’t my vibe, and I really struggled to finish it. (Though I could not stop thinking about how much therapy, physical and otherwise, Jaron needs by the end of the trilogy. This child has been through so MUCH.)

"For now my plan came down to four small words: Try not to die."

The Shadow Throne Review:
Overall: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐/5
Cleanliness: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐/5

I just love this series so much! I love the way it wraps everything up really well but still leaves you wanting more!

❤️ Things I loved:
- The romance is just so cute!! There is only a little bit in there, but what there is is just so sweet!
- This book is just a whole whirlwind. I was genuinely speechless after some of the scenes.
-Jaron's strategies and tactics for war are just so smart.
- Even though this book centers around a war, it wasn't just battle scene after battle scene, there was a lot of planning, character relationships, and "who can you trust?" kind of dynamics going on.

A good conclusion to a series I absolutely adored. I was slightly distracted by Imogen's fate that occurred at the beginning of the book (which I knew would prove false, but that still served to create an extremely uncomfortable tension in my gut). I've loved Jaron from the first sentence of the first book and this finish to his story did not disappoint.
