I love reading about Jaron and his friends. I especially enjoy seeing how he consistently manages to get out of the close scrapes he finds himself in.
The last 2 chapters were a little rushed. Some of the ally shifts felt unrealistic and merely a convenient way to wrap up the story nicely.

Usually, books in a series get worse and worse as you go along, but this series keeps getting better with each book. There is a beautiful plot that is very entertaining, and you won’t find yourself bored at any point. The characters are very loveable and relatable. I highly recommend this series to anyone who enjoys adventure, sword fights, pirates, kings, queens, and everything in between.
Moderate: Torture and Violence
Minor: Death, Physical abuse, Sexual content, Suicidal thoughts, Blood, Grief, Murder, and War

“Nobody gives you respect in this life. You must take it, you must earn it, and then you must hold it sacred, because no matter how hard respect is to attain, it can be lost in an instant.”
I love this series so much.

War is a bummer and I'm a little burnt out on this series, so this was the hardest for me to get through. The ending felt a bit sudden for me, but it didn't necessarily leave me unsatisfied either. I have grown to love characters that I initially disliked or had no interest in, which is always a promising quality.

It's war in a medieval-ish fantasy world, folks. It's not as intense as an adult book would be, but I think it's about as bad as Scholastic would publish.
