I visited the Fitzwilliam Museum over summer, and spent the majority of my time in the Classical section, so I read this book to find out a bit more about some of the pieces I remembered and liked. It is really easy to read, either from cover-to-cover or just to pick up and find a particular piece, aided by the chronological order (also ordered by region). It was written for 'the general reader' so it's perfect for an introduction, or a starting point, but wasn't intended for detailed analysis of the pieces. It's also very selective, so it only includes the highlights of the collection, giving the reader a taste of the collection as a whole, and also focusing on the more interesting and intriguing pieces that the museum has to offer. The information given about each piece is concise and absolutely fascinating.
