7.28.20 update: rating changed to 2.5/5. This book was ok/alright/meh.

Really torn on a rating here, guys. I think that it's a really great introduction to the series, and it's definitely got me curious as to what's really going on with everything, and I freakin' love the characters, but the plot was a bit all over the place for me.

I would have been all about this when I was 10. The art is fun and colorful. The characters all have unique personalities, and it is hard to choose a favorite. I would have liked it to have had more of a conclusion for a trade paperback, but the story isn't bad. It moves forward enough to keep me wanting to know what will happen next.

This was really cute and fun but I found myself wishing it felt a little more grounded? The characters just jumped from adventure to adventure at an incredibly fast pace and I still don't know all of their names. It needed some downtime between the fantasy elements to get to know the characters a little better and help slow down the pacing a little bit.

I went in without any word on how good or bad this graphic novel was, and I was very pleasantly surprised!! Really cute, funny, and a quick read. The art style really pops and there are a lot of little details that you can pay attention to in the images which can make you really find a greater depth to the story.

I enjoyed the subtle hints at a mystery happening in-between the more obvious tones of friendship and comradery.
