Clara and Rowan live with sub-standard metabolisms, they have a constant rash, can't eat garlic, must wear sunscreen all the time while their parents have a very boring hum-drum life in an English town. What they don't know is that they're actually vampires. Well they don't know until Clara is attacked and kills a boy. Then things get complicated and everyone in the family has to face up to the reality of who they are and what makes them different.

It's an interesting idea but I wasn't impressed, it wasn't bad, it just has an interesting idea and ran with it but didn't develop the characters in any great detail. A light read that kept me reading but didn't make me want to read more by that author or make me want more of the story.

Not boring and an interesting premise, but not as good as the Humans by the same author.

Dull, dull, dull and full of typical middle-class English (non)humour.

Disappointing for a Matt Haig book.

Not the best Matt Haig book, but I still loved it. I love his voice and his beautiful sentences. I can't understand, however, that some people have shelved this as YA? Yes, there are teenagers in this book but that doesn't automatically make it a Young Adult book. Because trust me, this definitely isn't.

It’s definitely a three star book but I added the fourth due to pure enjoyment. I just really really enjoyed reading this! YA is not normally for me, but this was just a great story and just something refreshingly different.

Quick read!

I love the way Haig divides up his chapters. I love his writing style and how he can turn a book about vampires into a satirical about domestic life, family love and parenting.

Loved the family and I kept picturing Spike, from Buffy, as Uncle Will.

Haig is easily becoming one of my favourite authors.
