3.5 - Nice easy listen on Audible but very obvious what was going to happen and the conclusions that Whitney jumped to were not anything I'd hope a real detective would take!

I enjoyed this detective. It's a bout a serial killer. The chracters are great and show character growth. I like how George and Whitney become friends during the story. I did guess the killer and some other aspects. Despite that I really enjoyed it and am looking forward to the next book.
The audiobook was great. I liked the voices the narrator did. She did a great job.

A great beginning to a new series by Sally Rigby.

Our story focuses around DCI Whitney Walker and forensic psychologist Georgina, George, Cavendish. Initially these two protagonists buffer heads and their personalities clash to the point where their working together seems at best unlikely. Over the course of the book they soften to each other and the development of their friendship certainly is the highlight for me of this series. Two individually strong but incredibly different women learning from each other and being stronger for it.

The overall story is good and had a few red herrings along the way. There are some moments of unprofessionalism by DCI Walker that are hard to ignore and routes of enquiry missed by shortsightedness that seem obvious. The overall story did have me gripped though and I definitely enjoyed it.

A note on the narration. Parts of Clare Corbett’s narration jarred a little - especially the voice of Clare, the forensic pathologist. Over the course of the book I did get used to it, however, and obviously enjoyed it enough that I am now already deep into the second novel in audiobook format with the same narrator.
