Gift to Aidan Xmas 08; Love the illustrations more than the story (but I imagine it will play to his Tiny-Tim Christmas Carol fascination!).

Average Wise Brown basically retelling of an oft told yarn.
Not that exciting this time.

This is a sweet children’s picture book about a little fir tree that lives in the forest but gets brought to a household every year for the holidays.

A sweet little story (or is it more of a fairy tale?) about a little tree that is used to cheer an invalid boy. It starts as a nature story about how this little tree grows. You expect it to be cut down as a Christmas tree but it’s dug up and then spends its winter inside with a little invalid boy. One day after several years of being transplanted and replanted, the boy somehow walks to the tree. It doesn’t make a lot of sense but it has a happy ending and I loved the illustrations by Barbara Cooney.
