We had no electricity so I ended up reading a physical book so I chose this one because it seemed like a quick read, and it was. I was thinking of giving it 3 stars because I liked it, but it was more of "it was ok", and according to Goodreads rating, that's only a 2. So there.

This was a silly young-reader I picked up for entertainment in between some hard-core study sessions. As prose, it leaves a lot to be desired. Exposition is delivered at break-neck speeds and plot holes abound. But since this is young adult fiction, I was willing to let a lot of that go. The author seemed to be deliberately dropping clues to let the reader play detective, but was un-artful about it. I was exactly 16% of the way through when I figured out who the bad guy was and what they were doing. I think I had seen the same plot on an episode of Smallville.
I love quirky names and this story delivers (for example, Mort Bone, the funeral home guy). There are plenty of fantastic magical antics reminiscent of a Disney channel show or old-school Nickelodeon. People who enjoy weirds-ville mysteries like those in Roswell or Eureka may like this book series.

Ages 11+
(no egregious language that I can recall, french kissing) Fun, light supernatural mystery for teen girls. A little too quickly wrapped up/unrealistic. Good to pair with Sparrow Delaney or the Maggie Quinn: Girl V. Evil series but not as high quality.

This book was really good. I liked that is was not another vampire book even though it looked like one.

This is a really cute series. It is easy to read for preteens. It reminds me of Buffy the vampire slayer episodes.

Totally enjoyed reading this book. Marlene Perez is a new author to me. Love Daisy's character. Once I started reading I couldn't put it down. I must definitely will be read the rest of the series.

Questo breve libro è una sorta di "urban fantasy" ma diverso dal solito: non c'è la solita storia d'amore tra umano e creatura "fantastica", grazie a Dio, perchè non se ne può proprio più.
La protagonista, Daisy, è un'adolescente apparentemente normalissima, "inconsapevolmente innamorata" del suo migliore amico Ryan, che vive in una famiglia con poteri paranormali. In breve tempo si ritroverà cheerleader popolare, fidanzata e investigatrice alla ricerca della verità sugli abitanti del suo strano paese; un mix di eventi paranormali, avventure al buio e scenette per le più romantiche questo libro non è male, perfetto per staccare e per una lettura estiva.
Daisy, tra le altre cose, l'ho trovata particolare e diversa da altri personaggi già incontrati in precedenza ma soprattutto simpatica, idem per Ryan che mi ha addolcito le giornate...una coppia davvero carina, dolce come solo all'inizio di una storia si può essere! ^^
Mi sono piaciute anche le sorelle della protagonista, Poppy e Rose: la prima è la classica sorella maggiore, o almeno come me la immagino io, scorbutica ma che alla fine ti aiuta sempre mentre la seconda è la più riflessiva, sempre pronta a far prevalere la ragione.
Ho apprezzato anche il fatto che non si sia "strafatto", non ci sono esagerazioni e la parte "paranormale" non monopolizza la lettura mostrandoci inoltre una diversa figura vampiresca, diversa dai soliti succhiasangue belli come non mai.
Ammetto che mi piaccia molto di più la copertina originale rispetto a quella italiana e anche il titolo non è male, avrebbe attirato più lettori secondo me.

The psychic things in this book reminded me of The Raven Cycle. But where The Raven Cycle is serious, this book is more relaxed. The book is pretty good, but it wasn't suspenseful. It was pretty obvious who the vampire was. I did like the whole concept of "psionic" vampires though. (If they're common, idk, this is my first time reading about them)
I liked the main character, Daisy. After reading a book about a particularly annoying main character, reading about Daisy was refreshing. It seemed like Daisy accepted the fact that there were supernatural creatures in the town too easily? But then, she comes from a psychic family herself, so idk. There were a few cliche things that happened, but I didn't really mind.
I honestly don't think I'll read the second book, because it seems like it has a different main character, but that's just me personally. (Reading the first chapter of the second book though... :o there are some pretty HUGE things that happen relating to the characters in this book.)

Ok where do I get started I liked the potential this book had but sadly I don’t think I will continue the series. This book is a paranormal mess I think there could have been more done with the characters and I think it jumped plots a bit. There were things that were not as deeply explained as I would have liked. I did like the ideas of a different vampires and supernatural beings operating under the normies nose . I like the idea of a supernatural council but that was not deeply explained or spoken about. Overall is was an okay read but not a favorite.
