Where the Stars Meet the Sea reminds me of Beauty and the Beast. It's a beautiful tale of love, self-worth, staying true to yourself, healing and loss.
Juliet Graham is an orphan who has been at the mercy of her Aunt Agnes for the last 10 years. She's been counting down to her 21st birthday when she will receive her inheritance and be able to take her younger brother Harry away from their awful aunt. Her plans are derailed when her best friend and cousin tells her he loves her, and then her family is invited to spend 2 weeks at the Duke of Halsteads castle. Juliet is just trying to keep her head down and not be noticed, but things get out of control when she escapes her aunt the first night and meets the Duke himself.
The Duke of Halstead is a broken man, literally. Two years ago he suffered an accident that caused him to lose the use of one of his legs. He now lives in almost constant pain and has decided to never marry because he does not want to burden anyone with his frailties. But then he meets Juliet who ventures into rooms she's not been invited into and breaks heirlooms. She speaks to him as a man, not a Duke
Juliet and Halstead both need to heal and learn to trust. Watching their stories unfold was beautiful and exciting. I thoroughly enjoyed this read and recommend it for anyone who loves a good clean romance that will sweep them off their feet.

24 hr challenge to read @authorheidikimball #wherethestarsmeetthesea accepted yesterday at 11:55am. Completed at 8:45am! ✔️ I loved this book! I can’t remember the last time I read a book so quickly! Not only for the challenge but because the storyline and characters were that compelling!

Juliet and her young brother Harry lost their parents at a young age and are being “cared for” by their Aunt. Harry is gone at school but Juliet, her aunt and two cousins attend a house party where her eldest cousin hopes to match a match.

The home belongs to the elusive Duke of Halstead. Rumors surround him and his mysterious disability. One thing you should never do at a house party - insult the host...repeatedly.

The story takes place in the 1820s England, which i adore! It's such a GREAT love story!. Is an easy read and addicting! Tbh i was hoping for at least one spicy scene at the end, the romance is a slow burn, it keeps you wanting for more, it's what makes it addictive tho.

"I want to understand you, all of you. Your memories, your hidden thoughts. Your heart"

I didn't expect to like this book as much as i did, it has a nice plot and characters, i would definitely read another one from the author. Oh and i have to admit that i couldn't help but picture Juliet, the main character, like an older Anne of the Green Gables with a mix of America from The Selection, maybe because she's redhead. Also, at some point the Dukes and Juliet's relationship reminded me of Me Before You, because Juliet helps the Duke to get out of his dark place of suffering after his riding accident.

"There is a part in each of us that longs for a sense of control, battles for it, foolish thought it may be. It is what makes us human".
-"Perhaps control is only an illusion meant only to torment us".

I was left a bit bored, there were many scenes where I felt that a little tweaking would've made the story more impactful. I enjoy main characters bantering with each other, in this book there were handful of times where that left me frustrated because the banter was skipped. It was done in the beginning where every word and look between characters is crucial but we just got paraphrased sections where we were told they were bantering and being witty. Scenes like that where we are told instead of shown made me lower my opinion of the book. Also that whole ending drama made me roll my eyes, I skimmed all of that because it was ridiculous.

I love how Heidi Kimball writes regency romances! Cute banter but I felt like the ending/resolution was too abrupt for me!
