A very good book, that gives you an insight into life as a princess, trying not to act like a 13 year old girl but a soon to be queen. In a world where assassins, the Romans, and even her own her own sisters plot to kill her, you live through Cleo's horrors as well as the highlights of he life at the age of 12- 14.

So, this book. Where to start with this book. It’s probably single-handedly responsible for all of my interest in Egyptology and Ancient History, and it’s not even an amazingly good book. As a child, it wowed me and really had my attention. I read this book MULTIPLE times within like a three year period. I was that into it. Even though now I can see the flaws and understand that it’s not a particularly good book, it still holds an indelible grip on my earlier reader experience. There would have been no bookworm Michelle without this book. The influence it has had on me is enormous, and for that I give it 4 stars.

I read when i was maybe elementary or middle school and enjoyed it. However as a grown adult who wanted to reread this nostalgic book, it was meh. I will reread this book another time.

Cleopatra’s father has gone into hiding because of an attempt on his life, so she has to navigate life with her sisters ruling Egypt as she dreams of being the queen.
