the only reason I’m giving this a 4 star rating is because I didn’t put the book down once. Two characters I didn’t like were Tyler and the roommate, Melissa. I don’t understand why Penny would even be friends with Tyler after the scene in the bedroom when they first met. But she still chose to have feelings for him? And Melissa, god, what she annoying! Super pushy and all up in Penny’s business. Penny wasn’t my favorite either, being only 19, her immaturity and inexperience really showed. And a professor at 27? Hardly believable even it was just an honorary title for having experience in business. Age gap romances are my favorite genre so I’ll continue reading the series.

I don’t usually read a book series (if the first one is FREE), unless I can commit to buying the rest in the series, so I’m not left hanging on what’s going to happen. Though I’m glad I did this time. This is the very start to James’ & Penny’s story and although the summaries of the other 3 books in the series hint at what might happen, I can’t wait to eventually add those 3 to my downloads to find out what REALLY happens! Another fabulous read from Ivy!

I really liked this book, but there were just a few things that held me back from loving it.

For one, she doesn’t ever stop calling him Professor Hunter... during sex, in her internal monologue, in her conversations with him. It got to a point where it was just creepy. Call him James god damnit! I know he enjoyed it when she called him that, but seriously, break out the “Professor Hunter” during sexy times and when you want to get your own way... not ALL THE TIME!

Two, they are both totally immature! She flip flops between James and Tyler too much and it is annoying. And he is jealous and weird... She is a petulant child most of the time who acts like a crazy person, flying off the handle before knowing the facts. And he is secretive about his life, then becomes furious and inconsolable when he learns that she is two years younger than he had thought.

Three, Melissa... I get she is her BFF, but she is pushy and kind of annoying. I haven’t lost hope that I will learn to like her more though.

But, none of those things are bad enough for me to not have enjoyed the book a lot! I cannot wait for the next book. What will become of all the drama!? Will Tyler out them? Will Melissa out them? And I KNOW that Isabella is going to waltz in and stir shit up! I cannot wait!

<<"Yes!" She screamed>>

The amount of times I had to read this (along with "professor hunter!") made me scream too. I literally started this in January 2022 and left at like 56%. I remembered nothing so I was like okay let's finish this.
Turns out, this book finished ME. And not in a good way.

If you gave this more than one star (which is still a lot imo) I'll pay for your therapy.

I downloaded this book for free on amazon so I gave it a chance. I actually hate leaving a bad review but here it goes:
It was really predictable and the main character acted like a 15 year old. I hated how she kept calling him "Professor Hunter", it was pretty annoying.
I also hated how she used Tyler.
Insta-love is usually an issue for me and this book was no different. They became in love with each other too soon and that was cringe worthy.
"Proffesor Hunter" made me uncomfortable at times and I became worried about the controlling relationship aspect that was never addressed as a negative thing in this book. In my opinion the relationship was toxic.
There were many things that bothered me about this book but I have to say that it actually kept me interested and I didn't think about not finishing it more than two or three times 😂
I'm not sure about reading the next one. The story that I have in my head is probably better than the real thing.
Ps: why does he have to be rich?

2.5 stars. I really wanted to love this book/series because it had so many great reviews but this was not for me. There were a lot of cringy moments along with the immaturity from Penny and I had to force myself through it. Also, Penny’s roommate was too much for me. She was very selfish and way too dominating. I thought there were some good spicy scenes but even that would get awkward because she insisted on calling him Professor Hunter. I also did not like that there was attempted SA and we just gloss right over that. “He really is such a sweet guy.” Gross. Not sweet when someone tries to force themselves on you.

If I could give half a star I would. I am not a reader of romance novels but as part of a book group we were asked to read a book from the romance genre to expand our horizons...well I'd like to keep my horizons away from this sort of romance. I mean I've read romance but this is the likes of Fifty Shades of Grey and quite horribly done. Seems to be written for the shock value, which is not that shocking if you enjoy more than one position in the room!

Penny is a collage student in her sophomore year who accidentally bumps into her professor, at which point she did not realize was her professor, and then sees him at her first class that day. Of course it's a senior class but Penny being the overachiever has decided to take it on early. A romance ensues with lots of public and private sex where they are almost caught. In this time she realizes Professor Hunter is holding secrets about his millionaire past...which of course one does as he is a professor and not her friend...and when Penny realizes the secret she decides to try and sleep with her "best friend" who is a guy who at the beginning of the story sexually assaults her!! Why!! Why would you even become best friends with a guy who obviously has ulterior motives for being your friend...which he admits to.

Ugh, this book was just horrible. The weakness Penny exudes is all blamed on her feminine naivety and inexperience. I really struggled finishing this book and skimmed most of the story. Oh and the cherry on top...Penny has been withholding her age to the professor...ummmm ok?!....and when he finds out she's 3 years younger than he thought he's out! He's ghosting her and that's how the story ends...."will Professor Hunter ever forgive her"....really....is this what people like?

I literally gave this the old college try...pun intended...but will not ever read another book like this.
