This was good but had so much potential to be great. Excited for the next one.

I didn’t actually enjoy this book while I felt that the story was interesting. It was just too much drama and back and forth and it enough of a story for me . I hated that the main characters kept having to react to something and kept questioning and arguing about the relationship.

Penny - the most annoying character that takes the worst decisions ever

Ugh, why do I do this to myself? I tell myself I don't need another series in my life on almost a daily basis, and here I go falling in love with another one.
I really shouldn’t, but for some reason I really love the mentor/mentee/teacher/student relationship trope. It’s forbidden and usually hot as hell, so I love it. This was no exception.
What I liked about this book:
1. I am a big sucker for nice, short chapters that are still written incredibly well. That is exactly what I got from Temptation. The other thing I loved about the writing in this book was I didn't feel there were any filler chapters. A lot of books will drag on and have things in them I don't find necessary or even interesting. Most of the time I read romance novels, I'm shouting at the author to just get back to the good stuff or at least have both of the main characters in the chapter again, and that did not happen with Temptation. My heart was satisfied.
2. I like the mystery surrounding James. I just know we are in for a doozy with this character. His can't be the only thing he was hiding. He's a bad boy, and I want more.
3. Ivy Smoak writes good steamy scenes. Teacher + student + good steam? I'm sold.
What I didn't like about this book:
1. I don't like a lot of the characters. They are well written, but I don't like them.
Penny's roommate Melissa, what is wrong with you? Did Austin and Tyler pay you to be a totally bad friend for the first 85% of this book? What happened to chicks before D****????? Why do you keep pushing her to do things she doesn't want to do and then become a judgy friend about it?
Tyler, even though you work really hard to redeem yourself, all I can think of is Meghan Trainor's song "No excuses" because I KNOW your momma raised you better than that you slimeball!
Austin, what is your deal? You say you've been dating her for 6 months but then there aren't any labels? You are scum, no, you are herpes because you are terrible and keep showing up. Unfortunately, I hate to think we aren't done with you yet.
Penny, Penny, Penny.....why were you ok with Also, why do you fight with him about something, make up, and then get mad at him for the same exact thing again that he already explained?
You're showing your age, girl....
2. I feel like there was so much miscommunication and/or lack of communication in this book. Homeboy is definitely still hiding something. Penny. And that ending?!?!?! Yeah, going to need to understand his motives there when he is doing to her what she did to him several times. Seems hypocritical.
4 tempting stars!!! Will be downloading the next one shortly.

How does this book have so many 5 star reviews?
Seriously I don’t get it. The first 35-40% I was totally here for. I liked it so much that when I found a cheap physical copy I purchased it because its was so entertaining so far. I was so wrong

Wanted to DNF at 5%, but teacher/student is one of my favourite tropes so I suffered through it to 20% hoping it would get better. Can’t stand this writing style. The characters have no personality and it’s insta-love with no chemistry or history. Plus the FMC is sexually assaulted in the first 5% then decides to be friends with the guy who assaulted her. Wtf!?
