I am interested in the story but struggled with the way it’s written. Juvenile comes to mind but I don’t think that’s quite the right way of putting it.

I would like to try again at a different time.

Another fabulous entry in this series. Even more archaeology with a dash of government conspiracy added for fun. And a cowboy sheriff. Seriously, what’s not to like? Just as good as the first, with even more excitement and action this time.

Perfect to read during Oppenheimer movie chaos! However, I was disappointed by this one for a few reasons did not connect with as well as the first book in the Nora Kelly series. The army felt forced. Morwood taking over Corrie’s case didn’t matter and was only to get the sheriff and Morwood together for a shoot out scene. The sheriff and Corrie went no where. Skip ended up saving the day. I was bummed because I liked the set up of this story so much! I of course love the series and will continue.

I actually preferred the first book in this series, "Old Bones". I thought the subject matter and bad guys were more interesting. I still give "Scorpion's Tail" a five because it was entertaining and worked in interesting pieces of history. I was struggling at the beginning because it was serious Clarice Starling vibes, but all the tires started rolling.
