I connected with these way more than I expected due to the era differences!

There are 4 books in this collection; Life, love, nature, and time and eternity. I really loved nearly every single poem in the life and love ones. It was the Emily Dickinson poems that I had fallen in love with and wanted more of her works. It was alive and ever present that it nearly haunting. But after the first two books, my peanut brain comprehension just struggled. The nature and time and eternity poems were most hard to read for me. It was very dense and full of references to religion and such that I didn't understand thus why it is a 4 star solely because I didn't get the half of it lol, But Emily Dickinson is good, she really is(hence why she is considered classic for a reason) there's something that is beautiful yet haunting in her poems that peeks through when you read it.

It’s been really fun to read through a poem or four before bed or in my downtime and ponder it a bit. Dickinson is a beautiful poet and the amount of highlighting and screenshooting I did whilst reading to send to others is a good amount. Obviously the language and prose can be a little difficult to understand-Emily had a wit in her writing and most of all she had universal feelings that are still applicable today.

In conclusion,

John Mulaney was right and he should’ve said it louder.

It was a little to dense for me to read and take in since I read poetry before bed. It’s more of a daytime reading so you can really understand what is being said.
