ANOTHER hurt/comfort. WTF is wrong with me…

2nd chance
30 year old MCs

🤮 Slurs f word
Homophobia

Email/Text correspondence 🥺 defiantly a theme I love.

So much internalised homophobia by Jax
So much emotion

Despite his internal conflict Jax goes all in with Wild refusing to waste his second chance knowing he’s never loved anyone else and 9 years on he’s still madly hooked on Wild. I love that he just snaps and comes out consequences be damned.

Good balance of sad story and spicy

So thrilled that the epilogue was years after the book and not months.

This was my second time reading this book and I loved it just as much this go around! All the feels here as Jax fought against his religious upbringing to realize he belonged with Wild. It was a definite slow burn waiting for these two to return to one another but it was worth it in the end!

There were several things that made me very uncomfortable while reading this:
  -  The way Jaxon's disabled brother was talked about, both in his POV narration and in what he said to other characters
 -  The fact that Wilder, as a queer author, would not only use the bury-your-gays trope in his book but claim it was better than the truth he based it on
that Jax ghosted him

 -  The rampant homophobia from almost all side characters; maybe the book was supposed to have a big theme of overcoming it, but I still didn't like it
 -  The very, very skeevy email exchange between a supposed author & reader/fan sliding so quickly into sex talk. The power imbalance and the inappropriateness of it all make me feel icky.  Just no.
