I didn't like how slow it was, but I could relate to Calla, and the ending raised my rating for sure.

At first, I was afraid that I might not like the second book and would rather it be a standalone, but I was wrong.

The second book is definitely better. The character development, the conflicts, the relationship and friendship just make it enjoyable to read. I appreciate it so much.

I love seeing Calla efforts trying to make herself feel at home far away from her confort zone and also build relationships with others.

The story continues almost seamlessly from where book 1 ended, i.e. with Jonah standing at the front door of Calla's home in Toronto.
This part is all about the two of them figuring out their lives in Alaska - it does invovle some ... well set backs and facing ones fears (in the form of a goat), but Calla and Jonah are talking about things and sovling their problems as they grow closer together.

I really like this story. It's a nice, easy read for something in between that does not demand much from you and will leave you with a fuzzy feeling by the end of it.
