I read this straight through with pretty much no break!
I would like to thank the author for sending me an ARC in the mail and giving me the opportunity to be a part of something like this. This is one of the only two ARCs I have ever done. This was the only hard copy I have ever had. This was a neat experience. Seeing the work that he does with this was also really awesome.
I can see his experience and knowledge come through in his work. That is one of the best things about writing to me; when you can use what you know to reach others.
This volume, though it was my first, was the seventh, but I didn’t feel lost. That’s a plus for ppl who don’t like to follow series or don’t like to follow them in order. There were some
heart-stopping moments, brilliant writing, and amazing action in this book. Recommended.

David Putnam has done it again with the seventh riveting Bruno Johnson tale. With David's mastery of the writing craft and the increasingly rich character of Bruno, The Heartless is a book that's hard to put down.
Once again Bruno operates on the fringes of the law and is pounded and pummeled as he pursues his objective to the bitter end. The motivation in this chapter of Bruno's life is clear - his daughter's life is threatened, and while Bruno was more than capable of violence in previous books, in this one he goes full Liam Neeson on the perpetrators.
There are lots of twists and turns as we follow Bruno's pursuits, including a surprising turn of events in Bruno's romantic life. Altogether, for those who are already fans of Bruno and Putnam's work this is a satisfying chapter in the saga. For this who haven't yet discovered Putnam's unflinching, in-your-face crime writing style, you can start with this book or, even better, start with The Reckless and work your way through them. Highly recommended.
