ok, i read the second one just to see if it would still be fun..but it's not worth continuing. it's less science-y and more magic-y, which isn't by itself a bad thing but since the science in the first one was one of the main redeeming features, IMO, it leaves a big hole. the plot and characters were more annoying than in Ill Wind, and the whole genie-bottle system seems incredibly dumb, and it was used to advance the plot in multiple places, which just made me roll my eyes. but i suppose it's consistent with the mythology.. as Robin Williams says "INCREDIBLE COSMIC POWERS!!!, itty-bitty living space".

The idea for this book is absolutely outstanding!! I highly recommend this series for anyone who is interested in Dark Romance novels (or Vampire books - although this is not about Vampires). Rachel Caine is a fantastic author and I would recommend her highly.

I read the first one in this series ages ago, but then the library didn't have the others, so I eventually picked the next couple up from a used bookstore. This one was okay. Something happened at the very end of the first book (which I totally didn't remember) that changed the basic premise of the main character, and I wasn't as into this version.

I'm surprised, I expected to enjoy this one more than the first. But, the first book, even with a few flaws, was more entertaining than this one. I liked the whole djinn curve but the plot was too wishy washy for me here. It just didn't hold my interest. Honestly, I had no problem putting it down at the end of the day. I'll try the third, but if it's more of the same, I may bag on the rest of the series.

Alright, it left me with a cliff hanger that makes me want to read more.

[2.5 Stars] This one was pretty meh. I wanted more weather wardens, less djinn, more character development, and a plot that connected things together better. This really didn't give me any of the above. Some scenes I loved, but I missed a lot of the things I loved about the first book. Like the way we got to know the characters and the way the little plot points came together. This just didn't seem as well thought out, and I don't unfortunately think I'm going to continue with the series.

Well, I'll say I liked this book more than I thought I would. The mush is a bit overwhelming, but I can deal with it. The men of this series, so far, are far more interesting than the lead character. Again, surprise ending leaves the 'world' back to where it started in the first book. I've slightly-less-reluctantly picked up the third already. Ugh. I should just go ahead and admit that I must like reading series... gees, I read enough of them.

Joanne Baldwin returns in book two of the Weather Warden series, this time around she's a Djinn. David, the Djinn in book one that joined Joanne on her journey helped her become a Djinn, but at what cost? With everyone against her, Joanne must learn to harness her new powers and it's another race against the clock. The duo notice some odd power is lingering only to realize there is a huge problem at hand that is growing rapidly. David is sadly, absent for most of the book, so Joanne is told to learn to master her powers under the tutelage of the only other human that successfully became a Djinn.

This time the book focuses mainly on Djinn, after reading book one I was curious about them. All I really knew was that Wardens were able to use their energy and that they were servants to whatever Warden had their bottle. While this held true in Heat Stroke, I got to learn more and it rounded out the story quite nicely. I can't wait to see what issue arises for Joanne in book three. So far I'm enjoying the series, and recommend it if you haven't read it yet.

Hum un début léger pour les deux derniers tiers particulièrement intense. On veut la suite
