It's the sequel to "The five people you meet in heaven".
Spoiler It follows the little girl Eddie saved on the pier.
The main character has a lot of challenges in her life and after death a lot of it is explained with the other person's perspective. It has a beautiful twist ending and the story is really beautifully told.

Don’t get me wrong, the first book was good. But this book? THIS BOOK? I am not okay!!!! This might be the most beautiful novel I have ever read. I cried while reading it and I want to cry again just thinking about Annie’s story, especially the second and fifth people she meets in heaven. I don’t know if I’ll ever recover from this one. Just wow. I would highly recommend reading this book immediately after the first.

Short but powerful book that follows Annie, the girl Eddie saved in the first book. It was heartbreaking at times and altogether bittersweet as we learned with Annie what “mistakes” mean and how we are connected to others and across lifespans. Bad note: I am now afraid of hot air balloons.

A great follow up for its predecessor, I loved the connections but the original will always be held tightly to my heart. Maybe time has fogged my memory but there were more mentions of god, which is fine I just have varying views. It was beautiful though, pairing the storyline’s and the connections. Someone did say trauma porn in the reviews here and I kinda agree.

i SOBBED. absolutely stunning! i love mitch albom and the five people you meet in heaven is one of my favorite books. this book is so emotional and helped me process a lot of grief i’d been tucking in a drawer to deal with later. absolutely amazing.
