This series has potential. And I love that it’s in small town Montana. But I want more from the characters - I want to care about them and cheer for them. I want to prefer one of the love interests. And so far I don’t.

Centered around a reality show grilling competition.

First of all, can we just take a moment to appreciate the amazing pun that is Crime Rib?

This was a very cute, cozy mystery about a murder that happens when a famous cooking show comes to a small Montana town.

Very low stakes and never quite thrilling enough to call it a thriller. But the mystery of the killing and the small town drama is enough to keep you interested. And the descriptions of the food are so well done I can picture the chocolate croissant better than I can picture the main character!

This is the second book in the Food Lovers’ Village Mystery series but you don’t need to have read the first one to enjoy Crime Rib!

A national food competition comes to Jewel Bay, but starts out wrong before the crew even arrives.

Another great cozy! I loved the main character in this audiobook, and the narrator really brought her to life. The plot was a bit confusing for me, but all in all, it was a good reading experience. I never guessed who the killer was and I suspected the wrong person the whole time reading the book!

This is the 2nd book in a series and it took me a while to get into it. ... I wonder if it’s because I didn’t read the “introductory” book, even though this one certainly stands on its own as a story. Once I did settle in, it was a solid cozy... a little darker/sadder than some, but with all the environment feels and great foodie descriptions. I’ll definitely go back to read the first and others in the series. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Another easy enjoyable book. But I think I should track the food the main character eats in a day. The calories have to be crazy!

I am happy that I gave Crime RIb a chance. I really wasn’t going to read it because the first in this series Death Al Dente didn’t really work for me, but I kept hearing good things about the second book. The mystery was well done and kept you guessing until close to the end. I liked the characters much more than I remember liking them. The food and festival details were fun and certainly kept me interested.

This was definitely a case of the series improving as it progressed or maybe I just wasn’t in the right mood when I read the first one.
