I did not expect where this book went - the supernatural aspects really took me by surprise.Â
I liked how the author described social interactions. She really picked out tiny details that aren't really remarked on and highlighted them, which kept throwing me off in a good way.Â
Very few of the characters were likeable, but I think that was the point. The main character, Remy, was particularly unlikeable, and spends most of the book being a misogynistic and sometimes violent creep. It was an interesting choice to take The Worst Guy You Know and make him a protagonist.Â
The ending of the book made me pretty uncomfortable, because it felt like the expected, violent conclusion to his stalking, which was depressingly realistic, and just very sad Â
I don't think I'd recommend this book, but I was interested to see where it went.
