Once I think about this one more it might increase to a 5 star. I sped through the end of it to keep up with the class I am reading along with (my good friend said he would enjoy a reading buddy) so I may need to collect my thoughts a bit more. I’ve now learned that this is considered by some to be Nabokov’s first masterpiece, and I see why. It depicts the life and mind of the tortured chess master Luzhin, as well as the important figures around him, as he effectively trauma bonds with chess to a deleterious degree. The tale is told by a third person omniscient narrator who hops around brains of the characters from paragraph to paragraph. I really liked the nonlinearity of the book as well as how Luzhin himself was characterized. It was difficult to get into at first, but towards the end I found myself speeding to the finish! Recommend for anyone who wants an introspective and heady read… even if you’re like me and don’t know much at all about chess. This one will still have you thinking at the end (in a good way).

как я себя чувствую когда ставлю безумной невероятной великолепной классике, которую я даже примерно понимать не начала, что-то ниже 4 🤓🤓🤓🥸

очень смешно получилось я слушала защиту лужина исключительно во время походов в душ жаль не посчитала сколько именно походов в душ (и даже один в баню!!) мне потребовалось чтобы ее закончить 

книга такого формата что в конце приходится прийти на ютуб и вбить вот это любимое "что-то там эндинг эксплейнд"
хотя у меня вроде есть для этого мать

я вообще пытаюсь читать набокова исключительно потому что моя мама такая большая фанатка набокова и я пытаюсь уловить вот это какой он человек был что это за тип человека 
если сравнить например с булгаковым ( тоже моей маме очень нравится)
например у меня был препод в университете тоже знакомый моим родителям дедуш и вот он безумный поклонник набокова и некоторых других таких вот смазливо мерзотненько гаденьких мужчинок и они у меня все складываются в одну картинку то есть для меня так безумно логично что у него каждый год 1555 дипломников пишут что-нибудь по набокову в семьсотый раз



естественно да я догадалась что там когда они ходят туда сюда по комнате или где-то столкнутся или она его лицо целует по какой-то схеме это все шахматы естественно единственная проблема я ПОНЯТИЯ НЕ ИМЕЮ как играть в шахматы у меня от них болит голова и такое тошнотное чувство как от большинства разделов математики и особенно геометрии

я ход королевы еле перенесла помню такая безумная пыльная тошнотворная духота 

но вообще-то конечно гений конечно здорово конечно даже не понимая шахмат и всех его шуток юмора вековой давности все равно множество эмоций остаётся и послевкусие ужасной тоски  и все такое живое и такие замечательные фразочки эхх вот бы родиться с таким же огромным мозгом
