This whiny protagonist needs to grow a backbone. I am over her wimpy approach and attitude. She has to get saved repeatedly and spends the entire book whimpering. And the relationship between her and Ben is completely unbelievable. The author has not managed to convince me of any chemistry between the two of them at all.

Kitty and the Silver Bullet
4 Stars
When Kitty's mother becomes ill, she and her werewolf mate, Ben O'Farrell, return home to Denver only to find themselves caught up in a Vampire turf war. To make matters worse, the local werewolf Alpha with whom Kitty has an antagonistic past is out for her blood. Will Kitty be able to keep those she cares about safe from the fallout?
This is a definite improvement over the previous installment on all fronts. Kitty is finally coming into her own and stands up for herself although she is still in dire need of some self-defense classes as she still finds herself worse off in physical altercations.
Moreover, the chemistry between Kitty and Ben that was sorely lacking finally puts in an appearance and the developments in their relationship as they work together as a team and love and support one another make the romance a lot more believable.
Vampire and werewolf politics are the focus of the plot with some intriguing revelations and hints at additional twists to come. I look forward to seeing where Vaughn takes her characters in the aftermath of the events in this book.

I thoroughly enjoyed the last book, Kitty Takes a Holiday, with the caveat that although all the shocks and twists entertained me, I didn't actually like one of the plot developments. So I decided to go straight to the next book to see if it was just a temporary place holder, or something more permanent.
Well, it's permanent, and not something I can easily accept. I think Carrie Vaughn has made an epic mistake with her characters. She set up one potential plot line beautifully, then turned you in a completely new direction, with no set up whatsoever, so as a reader you're just like 'you're kidding, right? I mean, seriously, not really. Say it ain't so!'. So much so, that I did what I almost never do, which is to peek ahead at reviews to see how long it lasts. And unfortunately it looks like it's as permanent as permanent gets. So I have actually made the decision at this point not to read any further, which is really sad considering I gave the first four books 4 and 5 star ratings. I just don't think it's good for my health or sanity to read something that's going to annoy me from here on out.
I'm sorry this review is all so very vague. People that have read it will know to what I refer (I hope). And I would never spoil it for those that haven't. Or maybe it just doesn't bother anyone else. Who can say?
But for me, for the moment at least, it's goodbye Kitty. *sadface*

Another solid book from Carrie Vaughn. I like how Kitty grows from one book to the other, how she learns from her mistakes. Also, Ben rocks.

Kitty and the Silver Bullet is the fourth installment in the series about Kitty Norville, the werewolf DJ to the paranormal and normal alike. A submissive at heart, Kitty has evolved through the course of the series into a strong character who realizes that there is more to the world than herself and she does have a chance at happiness.

I picked up this series truthfully because it is set in Colorado and I live in Colorado. And the series just keeps getting better and better. I can't wait for the next one.
In this book Kitty who was exiled from Denver has to come home because her Mom is having health problems. As always Kitty seems to have trouble find her. Because she has crossed back into Denver werewolf pack territory means big trouble will soon find her.
One thing I am enjoying about the series is although Kitty is the heroine she experiences real feelings. She might be strong and confident when she needs to be but she gets scared and confused and uncertain also. Things happen that are out of the characters control and she reacts to them in ways I feel anyone would if in that situation. The series is very well written, entertaining and engaging.
