This book was so useful on our recent weekend trip to Lassen National Park! We are NOT hardcore hikers by any means (the longest/most strenuous hike we did was Bumpass Hell), but we referenced it constantly while driving through and around the park. It has exhaustive information on the history, scenery, geo-thermal features, geology, animals, plants, every possible thing to stop and look at along the main park road, etc. It also includes information on the surrounding area that was helpful when visiting Burney Falls and Subway Cave. I would love to see more guides to national parks from White.
