I really truly loved this book until about 50% in. I got so tired of the back and forth between Josh and Kristen. He was completely insufferable and wouldn’t take no for an answer. Kristen’s lack of honesty and communication throughout the book really bothered me. I’m glad they got their happy ending but this book wasn’t what I hoped it would be

This book was going very strong for me for the first 75%, but the last 25% was a whirlwind in not the best way. I love Abby Jimenez's work so I do wonder if I read this by another author, if I would have rated it lower.
I just wish that Kristen's friends and partner could have given her the space to recognize she had been SUFFERING for years, and didn't push the pregnancy thing. I understand she wanted it too, but it felt invalidating at times. Also, did Brandon need to die??? The plot could definitely have been serious without killing off a character for literally no reason.

abby jimenez my beloved ... this book was aight.

like it was kinda haha funny in the beginning kristen n josh's banter is fun but also at one point the book felt like
a giant miscommunication trope like kristen SPEAK UP JUST SAY IT??????

and another thing!-
the ending felt kinda rushed like ok after all this shes suddenly pregnant and also i luv a good cr im a stan but the way that he kinda out of nowhere was like lets get married! bro what LMAO????? also she said no to tyler's proposal and he just disappeared off the face of the earth i guess?? and lastly how did her ice queen mother suddenly become civil with them like hello??  i don't believe it sry that woman is bitter as fuck

the last third of the book kristen kinda had me annoyed a bit bc of how stubborn n repetitive she was like i understand why you feel the way that you feel but you are doing nothing to combat the issue at hand kristen PLZ

i also hated shawn like i get he's supposed to be this like player-esque male character but i wanted to throw him into the same water he threw their phones into (iykyk) like i'd be fine if i never heard about him ever again but like the book wasn't that bad

do not be fooled, this book is cute and funny but it will also rip your heart out and make you cry in public on a park bench.

the topic of infertility was really heartbreaking at times and i  felt so much empathy for Kristen, I can understand how this could be quite triggering for others going through their own infertility struggles too; however i think it’s important to see representation of themes like this which are rarely talked about in romcoms.

my biggest pet peeve is a miscommunication trope so Kristen drove me insane at times.
and if you have read this you know what i mean when i say ‘was that really necessary?’ concerning one of the plot points.

all in all, i enjoyed this- even if it did make me much sadder than anticipated.
