Starts out simply enough like any other girlie novel. Then you add some magic and you have drama. There's romance for Clio and Thais. They bump into each other at school and secrets start to unravel about their unknown past and how they were separated at birth.

The story was a little confusing... I liked the sweep (wicca) books better! It's a little difficult when you have to switch from Clio to Thaïs in one and the same book. But in the end not brilliant but not bad either.

I have read the sweepseries first and I loved it so I was suspecting something great.

Just like the beginning of Book of Shadows it has to really begin and to me it was a bit confusing because of the changing characters, especially the chapters of Daedalus (and the others) in the beginning but I realised soon that I try to find out their purposes. Which is a sign to me that I like it.

In the end I really liked it because of the sensation or how to call it, you keep wondering (in my case) what will happen next so it was a fine first book.

I enjoyed the Wicca series by Tiernan, and Balefie promises to be just as enthralling.

It had a pretty good plot, and I even liked the drama with the girls and boys. It kind of sucks that the second book isn't on the nook, but at the same time it wasn't amazing so if I see the second book I'll definitely pick it up, but I'm not sprinting to B&N to get it. Over all good book.

Really like a 3.8, just short of 4 stars. This was a bit slow and it took me a little while to get in to it. It really felt like a filler book and didn't have any really big shock or anything at the end. But, it was good and did have some nice twists. I'm excited to read the next and see how the story continues for Clio and Thais.

You could skip the first 200 pages easily and still enjoy the actual plot.
