Even though I didn't like the characters that much, the writing was so good that by the end I enjoyed it.

[Bromance bookclub #5]

“The sunshiny one always falls for the grumpy one, honey. It’s science.”

Maybe she doesn’t want to run away. Maybe she just wishes someone would ask her to stay.

🎄 Second chance romance
🎄 Insta-love
🎄 Sunshine & Grump
🎄 Estranged family
🎄 Some growth in MCs; mainly surrounding familial hang ups and self worth. Their communication as a couple does not develop as much as previous books in the series & there is a lot left unsaid/unresolved by the ending.
I’m not convinced they could come back from the third act break up this quickly…

🎄 Found family
🎄 Lawyer & Country Music Star
🎄 Emotional & physical abuse by a family member are discussed & somewhat glossed over. 🚩
🎄 Epilogue

⚠️ Mild violence, physical abuse (not on page), emotional abuse, toxic familial relationships, blackmail, an arrest, references of deportation.

I absolutely loved this book, a perfect addition to the Bromance Book Club series! Despite being famous Colton is really grounded and sweet. It was clear how deeply he cared for Gretchen right from the start. Gretchen is a “grumpy” immigration lawyer who desperately wants to help others and make a difference. I enjoyed their dynamic and banter. And let’s not forget Colton’s pining. I highly recommend this book for fans of grumpy sunshine and famous person tropes- bonus points for it taking place at Christmas!
