So my L.A. BFF is the actual OWNER of this book, but she bought it at a little junk shop we visited here in Arkansas. It's too hot to bake anything in L.A. so she left the book here with me when she went home. I bought some yeast but haven't tried to make anything yet. lol

I made the basic white layer cake and added extra vanilla. The cake layers were delicious. I added a simple syrup to help it stay moist. All the techniques are explained very well and I anticipate further cake triumphs.

There are a lot of good bakers out there and i am amazed at their proficiencies. Nick Malgieri has a lot to offer and presents a well written and well organized cake book. i am definitely going to look up his other books. I especially valued his introductions to the sections, presenting "the rules" and what to do with mistakes. Yumm.

Fantastic cookbook! When it’s time to bake this cookbook is one you have a permanent place for on your counter. Every recipe is something I’d like to bake. Instructions are precise and the ingredients are easily found. I would have liked some pictures of these amazing treats though.
