Katniss never wanted to be involved in any of the things that happened to her, all she wanted was to protect the people she cares about.
Who knows if the odds will be be in her favour?

I'm almost 21 now and finally decided to read the 'The Hunger Games' triology.
The first book easily is one of the best I've ever read. And I'm happy that I only read it now.
Now I know that the story is more than what I thought. They aren't a dystopian love story.
It's a story about a young girl that just wants to live.

Katniss is an average 16 year old, she isn't special, not 'the chosen one' etc.
And this makes this book (& the entire triology) so great.
"The Hunger Games" perfectly shows the sacrifices we're willing to make for the people we love. It shows how Katniss fights to stay alive in a game (& world) that is build to kill people like her.
And most importantly, the book criticises how a few people in power exploit, opress & ignore the less fortunate.
But it also shows that you can fight back. Even if one didn't intend to do so.

Suzanne Collins did an amazing job! Great worldbuilding, amazingly written characters and a story that has so much depth.
I definetly recommend reading the other books of the series as well!
!!
If you have problems whith graphic descriptions of wounds, blood etc. be warned.

This is one of the greatest books I have ever read I couldn't put it down. Amazing original idea and speaks volumes. In our current society with its addiction to the voyeurism of reality television...could this be the direction we are headed as a society??? Makes you think!
