I got about a third of the way through before my book club collectively gave up; I wanted to think it was riotously funny, but decided I wasn't in for 400 more pages. Still, the postmodern-before-its-time thing is no joke (ironically). If life were longer and I had a good annotated version, I'd give it another shot.

I'm giving up, I've got about 3/4 of the way through and have no idea what is going on and seem to be just reading random words. A lot of people seem to love this book, but it just doesn't work for me, the punctuation is not easy to follow and there are a lot of of distractions away from the main story that make it very hard to follow. I have read a review that said they hated it the first time and loved it the second but I have too many books to read to think that I amy give this another go, saying that stranger things have happened so never say never.

I gave up after 100 pages. Life is too short for me to slog my way through a book that has no plot.

It's very funny, but the punctuation style (particularly the lack of speech marks) made it quite difficult to follow in places. Still, I think it was worth the effort.

Full of digression and sexual innuendo. Honestly I probably missed half the humor. It’s definitely unique. Beyond his birth, there’s not a lot about Tristram - mostly his father and Uncle Toby.

My first experience with stream of consciousness after trying to read James Joyce. When I started this book I didn't think I was going to like it. But thanks to one of the greatest Lit teachers I've ever had I learn to love this book.

I know. I know this is supposed to be satire. I know that Tristram Shandy is supposed to be obnoxious for the sake of comedy. But reading this book just felt like hanging out with somebody who only knows one joke that they bring up every time you two get together.
